Mônica and Ronaldinho say 'Yes to life'
Ronaldinho and Mônica started their particular crusade against
drugs on the past 21st June in the vignettes. Mauricio de Souosa, the
comic's creator, was not the only one to decide. The caricaturist agreed
to draw the strips with the Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da
Silva, the Minister of Education, Tarso Genro, and the Brazilian Anti-drugs
Secretary Paulo Roberto Uchoa.
Under the name "Say yes to life", the campaign, developed
within the framework of the Sousa Cultural Institute, is intended to
prevent the use of drugs. Pupils from diffren Brazilian state schools
have already received the magazine with the adventures of the football
superhero and his companion Mônica, in which information is given on
drugs and a warning is given on their consumption.
Aware of the influence that his stories have, De Sousa declared that
with this campaign "we will be able to give value, teaching, guidance
and warnings to the readers, whether they be children or adults".
